Marking Guide: Social Media Pitch

Instructions: Use the following descriptors to assign a score for each criterion. Focus on the evidence presented in the pitch deck and the oral delivery.

Criterion 1: Research Depth

  • Score 5: Exceptional use of primary/secondary data; identifies a unique “white space” in the market.
  • Score 3: Relevant data used to define an audience; research is accurate but standard.
  • Score 1: Target audience is too broad or not supported by data.

Criterion 2: Creative Originality

  • Score 5: Concept is highly innovative and distinct from current competitor campaigns.
  • Score 3: Concept is creative and fits the brand, but follows common industry trends.
  • Score 1: Concept is generic or a direct copy of an existing campaign.

Criterion 3: Visual Communication

  • Score 5: Professional-grade deck; visuals enhance the narrative; high consistency in brand colors/fonts.
  • Score 3: Clean, readable slides; images are relevant to the text; minor layout issues.
  • Score 1: Slides are cluttered or low-quality; visual style conflicts with the brand persona.

Criterion 4: Delivery and Engagement

  • Score 5: Compelling storytelling; handles Q&A with high confidence and expert knowledge.
  • Score 3: Clear and professional speaking; stays within time limits; answers questions adequately.
  • Score 1: Presentation is read from notes; poor eye contact; unable to answer basic follow-up questions.

Scoring Guidance

Total Score out of 20. A score of 12 (average of 3 across all) represents a ‘Pass’. Scores of 18+ represent ‘Distinction’ level work.

Notes for Assessors

Watch for: Group cohesion—does the transition between speakers feel seamless? Common mistake: Over-relying on AI-generated images that don’t match the specific Singaporean market context.
